DELATORRES WINS HOLCOMB 5.0 CIVIL WARS RACE AT THE ROCK

Elias Delatorres (of Key Largo Florida) won the Holcomb Motorsports 5.0 Civil Wars Sunday at Rockingham Dragway. Delatorres' win gave the South it's third Civil War victory in the event's fourth year. Delatorres led qualifying Saturday at 7.924 seconds and ran 8.036 to beat Joe Silva (of Toronto Ontario, Canada) in the final round Sunday.

Silva advanced to the finals by defeating Jimmy Keen (of Palmetto Florida), while Delatorres outran Greg Munn (of Aberdeen N.C.) to get his spot in the finals.

Bryan MacKendrick (of Snellville Georgia) won the Outlaw Street Wars class by besting Scott Conner (of Archdale N.C.)

Danny O'Day's 1996 Ford Thunderbird set world records for both time and speed while hanging both front wheels in the air. The wheelstanding Thunderbird blistered the quarter mile in 8.893 seconds @ 144.67 miles per hour with only the rear tires on the ground.
